Type 1 Diabetes community engagement.
Social dinner and research fundraiser event - Feb 24, 2024
Dr. Thompson, joined by members of his research team and clinician colleague Dr. Brandy Wicklow connected with the T1D community in Winnipeg at a casual dinner social event on on Feb 24th 2024 at the Southdale Community Centre. The event was hosted by Tracey Mcleod-Stecy and family as a fundraiser to support undergraduate summer students in T1D research in Dr. Thompson's lab for summer 2024. Dr. Thompson shared research updates from his lab as well as the T1D research landscape more generally. Dr. Wicklow shared about efforts at improving T1D risk screening for autoantibodies here in Winnipeg, through the TrialNet consortium.
We had a fantastic time together and $3363.00 was raised to support student research in T1D in the lab! Many thanks to Tracey and her family for all their efforts and support of bringing new students into the field of T1D research in the lab! |
